Named for the turquoise stone set into Mughal silverwork — that shallow, jewel-bright blue-green worn close to the skin for centuries, prized as much for its colour as for the calm it was believed to carry. Firoza holds the same cool clarity, with raised diamonds of honey-toned jute sitting across the field like enamel inlay caught in a silver setting.
Narrow ivory stripes run the length of the piece, breaking the turquoise ground into measured columns, while the jute diamonds repeat in a steady jewel-like rhythm — small, exact, slightly raised to the touch. Knotted turquoise tassels at either end carry the colour out to the edges and finish the piece with a soft, hand-finished close.
Handwoven on a traditional handloom in a blend of jute and cotton, then hand screen-printed in small batches. The jute lends the surface its raised, tactile body and warm earthen counterweight; the cotton softens the ground and holds the colour cleanly. Together they give Firoza its character — bright to the eye, grounded underfoot.
At home beside a low bed, anchoring a sun-warmed corner, layered into a verandah, or softening the foot of a bath. Pairs naturally with cane, brass, terracotta, and unbleached linen.
